Your Little Author: Age level tips and tricks

First year: Spend time talking face-to-face everyday; her
best language learning is done while watching you form words!

Second year: Play simple word games. “I spy with my eye…”
Let him guess the object as you describe the color and shape and use.

Third year: Play pretend games with him! He loves to
show you his imagination-- and have you follow his lead.
·
Fourth year: Let her tell you a story at bedtime. Ask
questions about her characters as she tells you what happens to them.
·
Fifth year: Make a word
and picture book together. Let him write
the words as best he can, while you help. He illustrates it. Be sure to bind
the book and give it a title with your
little author’s name.
